British High Commissioner, Kenya

Mr Nic Hailey has been British High Commissioner to Kenya since December 2015.

Prior to taking up his current position he was Director, Africa at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO). In that role he had responsibility for all UK policy towards, and operations in, 48 countries across Africa.

Mr. Hailey joined the FCO in 1997. He has held various positions in the Foreign Office: Deputy Ambassador – Kabul; Counsellor, Political, Economics & Communication Group - Washington; Head of Strategy, Communication & Training Department, FCO Consular Directorate; speech writer to the Foreign Secretary; Private Secretary to Her Majesty’s Ambassador - Paris followed by Berlin; Secondment to École nationale d’adminstration, Paris; and Desk Officer, European Union Directorate.
