Distance from the Eleventh WTO Ministerial Conference

Bolsa de Cereales is located behind the CCK (Centro Cultural Kirchner), which will be the MC11 accreditation center, and a 10-minute walk from the Hilton Hotel which will be main MC11 venue.

Partner organisations are responsible for ensuring that their staff and panellists are registered through the TSDS website. TSDS online registration will remain open until 7 December 2017. All partners and panellists must be registered online to ensure that a badge is available upon their arrival.

Airport

Ministro Pistarini International Airport (Ezeiza International Airport) is located about 30km from the centre of Buenos Aires. Airport website: http://www.aa2000.com.ar/ezeiza

Taxi

Taxis operate under the authority of the City of Buenos Aires Government. A taxi rank is located at the exit of Terminal A. Taxi fares are in Argentine pesos only. The meter starts at 23.20 pesos and goes up 2.32 pesos for every 200 metres travelled or minute of waiting time. A night-time rate applies between 10 pm and 6 am, with a 20% increase in the cost of the journey. Uber and Cabify both operate in Buenos Aires.

Shuttle

Major Hotel chains provide shuttle services. In addition, the MC11 organisers have arranged shuttle service for participants upon their arrival. A 24-hour shuttle service for MC11 participants will run between hotels and Conference venues.

It should be noted that applicants that do not have an accredited Argentine diplomatic or consular representation within their territory will be able to obtain their visas through any Argentine representation in their area.

Information for participants who require a visa:

Pre-registration on the TSDS website is required.

ICTSD can then provide an invitation letter.

Argentine legislation does not grant e-visas or visas on arrival.

Due to the high volume of visa applications expected, participants are requested to begin the application process as early as possible, at least 60 days before the opening of the Symposium. If the application process is initiated any later, there is no guarantee that the visa will be issued in time.

There are no mandatory health requirements for entering Argentina. It is however recommended that visitors are up to date with their vaccinations.

Tap water in Buenos Aires is safe to drink.

Public hospitals will treat emergencies free of charge.

The 24-hour emergency ambulance service (SAME) can be called on 107.

TSDS attendees should be aware of the following information. Security personnel will be deployed by the government of Argentina to the airports and areas affected by the 11 th Ministerial Conference. High security standards will be implemented in official MC11 venues – i.e. the Buenos Aires Convention Centre, Hilton Hotel and CCK Cultural Centre. Security measures will further extend to areas in the vicinity of official venues, accreditation centres, adjacent buildings, designated hotels for delegates, parking areas and any other area affected by MC11. Security areas will be established in the areas adjacent to official venues. Access to official MC11 sites will involve passage through metal detectors, the inspection of packages and bags and the scanning of vehicles.

The climate in Buenos Aires in December is warm and humid. Rain is possible at any time of the year. Average high to low temperatures are 28.1ºC (83ºF)-18.4ºC (65ºF)
