The E15 Initiative (E15), jointly implemented by the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD) and the World Economic Forum, is an action-oriented global dialogue aimed at building a cohesive and inclusive global trade and investment system that advances sustainable development.

The E15 released a comprehensive set of recommendations in 2016 to upgrade world trade and investment frameworks. These policy options were the product of three years of multi-stakeholder engagement among 375 world-class experts supported by 16 partner institutions. This unique undertaking was structured to benefit from truly global perspectives and also to cut across professional and thematic silos. It gathered individuals and institutions intent on formulating actionable and cooperative solutions for a sustainable trade and investment system.

In 2017, the initiative entered a phase of direct engagement with policymakers, trade negotiators, and stakeholders through issue-specific dialogues conceived to address knowledge gaps in negotiations ahead of the WTO’s Eleventh Ministerial Conference and beyond. This engagement is informed by the policy options put forward by the E15 experts.
